blessing and a curse. The blessing came in the form of motor fuel volume, which rose 2.7 per- cent year over year to 75 billion gallons sold by single-store operators in 2015. Single stores accounted for nearly half the total industry fuel volume last year, which came in at 151 billion gallons. On the flip side, single-store motor fuel sales in terms of dollars took a hit, sliding 22 percent to $196 billion. How- ever, single stores did not fair any worse than their chain-store brethren, as the total industry saw the exact same year- over-year drop on a percentage basis.
